    The Solarium

Deck 14 begins at the bow with the magnificent Solarium area that is glass enclosed and stays quite warm even when the temperatures are chilly outside.

There are several small, shallow pools that cascade water over the edge into the next lower pool. There is a beautiful bust sculpture at the top and greenery all about.

These pools are not for swimming, just for lounging in the water and vary in temperature with the weather outside.

There are several large “pod” chairs that offer some sense of detachment and privacy from the rest of the area and can handle two people.

Two hot tubs with two sections each, flank the lower level and are set at a nice temperature somewhere between warm and hot and push out large masses of air bubbles which actually offer a bit of a massage in the water.

The “Sunshine Bar” not only offers cocktails but also smoothies made in healthy varieties and with fresh fruit. The Devinely Decadence restaurant is just behind the bar.

Solarium is restricted to adults only and is designed to be a relaxing, quiet and restful place. It offers a fantastic view of the ocean and sky around the boat and was one of our favorite places.

Leaving the Solarium (IF you leave the Solarium), Deck 14 continues with an indoor pool and two more hot tubs, an outdoor pool with two more hot tubs and giant movie screen, and a kids splash area.

The top decks host the sporting functions on board the Quantum. Deck 16 begins with a fabulous fitness center near the bow of the ship and a spa that offers massages, facials and much more. The NorthStar elevates just aft of the fitness center and hosts a bar and some deck chairs with fantastic views of the pool deck below.

  • Decks 3,4 and 5 – Esplanade, 270, Restaurants, Theater, Casino
At the stern of the ship on Deck 5 is the 270 lounge/club area which actually extends up into deck 6. Called 270 because of the wrap around (270 degrees) views through giant glass walls, it offers a serene and beautiful place to visit during the day and can be transposed into an entertainment venue at night. The views are just spectacular here. Don’t miss the tall swinging seat over on the starboard side.

    270

    270

The deck 6 part of 270 offers mezzanine seating, a library with computers and a workshop for crafts and other projects. There is a handicapped accessible elevator in the middle/back section that can get a wheelchair or scooter to the upper area. Cafe 270 is just forward from the main 270 area. [more on the cafe later]

Walk forward out of 270, past Vintages, and Jamie’s Italian restaurant.
