Organizing Thoughts Using Presentation Slides

Organizing Thoughts Using Presentation Slides

Presentation management software is designed to compose and organize slides that will be used to present thoughts to an audience. It is also useful to organize thoughts and the flow of ideas and processes, even when there is no intention to present it to someone else.

Most presentations are composed from series of “bullet” points, simple phrases that convey key ideas. A “slide” of these key points is composed, meaning a page. Each page/slide can easily be arranged in any order with relation to the other slides/pages. This enables brainstorming by jotting down thoughts on a slide and then later figuring out where they fit in with other thoughts.

It is also possible to do the same thing with most text editors and word processors using cut and paste to move blocks of text. But a presentation manager offers a more visual and spatial means to accomplish the same task. Tapping in to the visual and spatial parts of our mind often changes the way a problem looks as we try to find a solution. Changing point of view is one of the most effective ways to find solutions.
