1749 – Goethe – bio

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born in Frankfurt, Germany in 1749 and is noted as being a polymath or “Renaissance Man” because of his wide range of knowledge. He became known for his work with poetry, drama, and theology, as well as science. He studied world literature and had a strong influence on German philosophy. He studied law.

His studies of plant morphology influenced Darwin. In 1810, he published a work called, “Theory of Colours”
